AMP Bank has re-entered the self-managed super fund (SMSF) lending market with the launch of SuperEdge, a residential property lending solution tailored for SMSF trustees.
This move addresses the growing demand among Australians seeking greater control and flexibility in their retirement planning.

SuperEdge offers several key features designed to meet the unique needs of SMSF trustees:

  • Flexible Repayment Options: Borrowers can choose between principal and interest or interest-only repayments for up to five years, supported by a documented transition plan.
  • Optional Offset Facility: An offset account is available to help manage cash flow while maintaining asset separation within the SMSF structure.
  • Digital Application Process: A broker-first digital experience streamlines the application process, incorporating automated SMSF structure checks and document validation to reduce rework and improve turnaround times.

To ensure responsible lending, SuperEdge is available exclusively to corporate trustee structures, with a maximum loan-to-value ratio (LVR) of 80%. Additionally, SMSFs must have net assets of at least $300,000 and maintain a minimum of 10% liquid assets post-settlement. Property location restrictions apply, focusing on residential properties in designated zones, excluding off-the-plan, construction, rural, or commercial securities.

AMP Bank's Group Executive, Sean O'Malley, emphasized the importance of providing SMSF trustees with competitive, transparent, and responsible lending options as they build long-term wealth. The bank's return to SMSF lending reflects its commitment to offering solutions that align with the evolving needs of Australians approaching retirement.

SuperEdge is currently available through a pilot testing phase, with broader market availability targeted for the first quarter of 2026. SMSF trustees interested in exploring this lending solution are encouraged to consult with their financial advisors to determine its suitability for their individual circumstances.
