Club Marine, Australia's leading provider of recreational boat insurance, has announced significant updates to its product disclosure statements (PDS), reflecting a commitment to better serve the evolving needs of Australian boaters.
This comprehensive review of policy guidelines and terminology aims to align coverage with new boating trends and technologies, ensuring that policyholders receive the most relevant and effective protection.

One of the notable changes includes coverage for electric water sports equipment, which has seen a rise in popularity. Under the updated PDS, such equipment can now be covered for fire, theft, and total loss without the need to specify them under accessories. This enhancement simplifies the insurance process for boaters embracing modern water sports technologies.

Additionally, Club Marine has amended liability rules applying to professional skippers, crews, and transporters. These changes are designed to provide clearer and more comprehensive coverage, addressing the specific needs and risks associated with professional marine operations.

Tim Wiles, CEO of Club Marine, emphasised the significance of these updates, stating that this is one of the most important and exciting revamps of the policy document in the company's 65-year history. The goal is to not only provide significantly better cover but also to make it easier and more efficient for boating customers to interact with the insurer, thereby enhancing confidence and reassurance among policyholders.

For Australian boaters, these policy enhancements represent a proactive approach by Club Marine to adapt to the changing landscape of marine activities. By aligning insurance coverage with contemporary boating practices and technologies, Club Marine continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting the diverse needs of the boating community.
