Virgin Australia has unveiled its 'Pets in Cabin' service, a pioneering initiative that allows passengers to travel with their pets in the aircraft cabin on select domestic routes.
This service caters to Australia's substantial pet-owning population, offering a more comfortable and convenient travel option for both pets and their owners.

The initial trial phase includes flights between Melbourne and the Gold Coast, as well as Melbourne and the Sunshine Coast, with the first pet-friendly flights scheduled for mid-October 2025. Plans are in place to expand the service to additional routes in the following year.

Tickets for pets are priced at an introductory rate of $149 per animal, per flight. While this service is set to transform domestic air travel for pet owners, it's important to note that certain restrictions apply. For instance, the service may not be suitable for all pets, and specific guidelines regarding pet size, breed, and behavior are in place to ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers.

Virgin Australia's initiative reflects a growing trend in the travel industry to accommodate the needs of pet owners. By allowing pets to travel in the cabin, the airline aims to reduce the stress associated with pet travel and provide a more inclusive service for its customers.

For pet owners considering this service, it's advisable to review Virgin Australia's specific requirements and guidelines to ensure a smooth and enjoyable travel experience for both themselves and their furry companions.
