Australian shipbuilder Austal has been awarded a contract extension valued at approximately A$150.3 million to construct two additional Evolved Cape-class patrol boats for the Australian Border Force (ABF).
This brings the total number of these vessels ordered by the ABF to six, underscoring the government's commitment to strengthening maritime security.

The Evolved Cape-class patrol boats are designed to support a wide range of missions, including border protection, fisheries enforcement, and national security operations. Each vessel features expanded accommodation for up to 32 personnel, enhanced quality-of-life systems, and advanced sustainment technologies to maximise operational availability.

Construction of the new patrol boats will take place at Austal's Henderson shipyard in Western Australia, further bolstering the nation's sovereign shipbuilding capabilities. The addition of these vessels reflects continued confidence in Austal's delivery capability and the strength of Australia's shipbuilding industry.

For prospective boat owners, this development highlights the ongoing investment in maritime infrastructure and security, which can influence the broader marine industry, including financing options and market trends.
