The Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) has announced a significant investment of $100 million to facilitate the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) across Australia.
This initiative is designed to provide discounted financing options for both new and used eligible EVs, making sustainable transportation more accessible to consumers and businesses alike.

In collaboration with Volkswagen Financial Services Australia (VWFS), the program offers eligible customers a reduction of up to 1.0% on standard loan rates for qualifying EVs. This discount comprises a 0.5% contribution from the CEFC and an additional 0.5% from VWFS. The financing covers:

  • Consumer loans for passenger EVs priced below the Luxury Car Tax threshold. For instance, a customer financing a $70,000 EV over five years could save more than $1,900.
  • Commercial loans for light commercial electric vehicles, including vans and utility vehicles, without the Luxury Car Tax threshold limitation.

This strategic investment aligns with Australia's broader objectives to reduce carbon emissions and promote cleaner transportation options. By alleviating the financial barriers associated with EV ownership, the CEFC aims to encourage a more rapid transition to electric mobility.

For consumers and businesses considering the switch to electric vehicles, this financing program presents a timely opportunity to benefit from reduced loan rates, thereby enhancing the affordability and appeal of EVs in the Australian market.
